You may have noticed that Microsoft last updated their knowledge base article about this issue over three years ago. Why blog about it now, you may ask? Because it affects users who are updating their Windows Vista installation now. Since Microsoft has announced that they will no longer be supporting un-patched Vista starting later this year, a lot of people still running Vista as it came out of the box will need to update very soon. So all those old issues from the first updates are new again, for some. Including this one.

Check your Windows Vista version. Go into the control panel, and click System. If it doesn't say "Service Pack 2", you need to update Vista! Microsoft will not charge you money for this. Your system will be safer and more reliable with all of Vista's early problems fixed. But do be aware that the update is not without glitches, as this post has shown.

If you have any questions, or to book a service call, call or email .
